Andoni Iraola became the latest coach from the Basque region to take charge of a Premier League team after being hired by Bournemouth on Monday, hours after Gary O’Neil was fired despite keeping the team up last season with four matches to spare.Iraola joined after his contract expired at Spanish club Rayo Vallecano, which finished in 11th place in La Liga last season in his third year there.Rayo had a high-energy, heavy-pressing style under Iraola, who follows fellow Basque coaches Mikel Arteta, Julen Lopetegui and Unai Emery to England’s top division.“He was highly sought after by other clubs across the continent, and his style of play has been an important factor in making this decision,” said Bournemouth owner Bill Foley, an American who bought Bournemouth in December. “His achievements in Spain have certainly been very impressive, and we’re confident that he is the right man to lead our next chapter.”Foley said it was a “difficult decision” to part company wit...

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Argentina struggled to create chances without Lionel Messi in the team as it labored to a 2-0 win over Indonesia in a friendly on Monday, with both goals coming from defensive-minded players. Tottenham defender Cristian Romero added the second soon after the break.Messi, who scored in a 2-1 win over Australia in Beijing on Thursday, was allowed to return home early by coach Lionel Scaloni in order to rest.
